Program Overview

Mission statement

Our Orthopedic Residency Program is committed to developing physical therapists who demonstrate clinical expertise in orthopedic practice, a dedication to teaching, and a passion for service to the profession and community. Through our program you will experience a variety of patient care, mentoring, educational, research, observation and teaching opportunities.

Residents engage in flexible online didactic content, participate in weekly faculty-led lab sessions at IM体育平台, and treat patients 36 hours per week at an affiliate clinic site, which includes weekly 1:1 designated mentoring time. Residents additionally engage in research with faculty, complete multidisciplinary provider observations, are involved in educational interactions with IM体育平台 Doctor of Physical Therapy students, and are provided opportunities to present to a variety of audiences.

We are currently accepting four Residents annually. This 12-month Residency Program begins early July and ends early July of the following year.

Opportunities provided throughout the residency program

  • Educating IM体育平台 students
  • Preparation for OCS Examination
  • Direct patient care opportunities at affiliate clinic sites in Eastern/Southeastern Wisconsin
  • Multidisciplinary observational experiences
  • 1:1 clinic mentoring one day / week
  • Collaborative research opportunities with faculty
  • Present current literature and/or research findings on a clinic, community, regional, and/or national level

Didactic component

  • Flexible online lectures and learning modules through Canvas

What to Expect

Upon completion of the residency program, residents will excel as orthopedic physical therapy practitioners, work collaboratively with other members of the health care team, and educate current and future health care providers regarding orthopedic related content.
